 Hello,

Winogradsky column by S. Kokoroskou and S. Kressou
Our samples were taken by Anauros (local beach of Volos, Greece) during our university field trip. We already had prepared the necessary tools:
ü  One plastic bottle of 1.5l
ü  One plastic bottle of 0.5l
ü  One egg
ü  Some small paper pieces
ü  milk
We went there and we followed specific steps:
1.     Gather some soil and make a hole in the middle
2.      Put the paper and the egg inside, make a mixture
3.    Put it inside the bottle (2/3 parts of the big bottle)
4.    Also, some milk inside (about 50 to 100 ml)
5.    Finally, filled up with water
Then we left it in a dark place and took some photos during the days of the experiment.

1 day

 15-20 day
After period of time and between the 15th  and 20th day of our experiment the statue of water has started to obtain a brown color (image 2,3). Due  to FeS which is released from the anaerobic processes which are taking place inside the column.
