WEEK: 2nd

It is observed in both columns (control and warm
exposed column ) that the sludge has precipitated and the water is less blurry
than it was the first week. Also, due to the green color in the water column we
can safely assume that it has grown phytoplankton. At the moment it is not
observed any stratification in the sludge from the microorganisms. In addition,
we can assume that there are methanogens and other bacteria due to gasses that
they are producing. This can be perceived from the distention of the membrane
on the top of each bottle. Lastly, there was no apparent difference between the two
bottles. In conclusion, there were no radical changes from first week.
Hypothesis: The rapid
fluctuation of the temperature on daily basis, reduces the growth rate of the
microorganisms in the 2nd Winogradsky
column.
