Rio San Pedro sediment + filter paper
Day 28
At
a first sight we couldn't realize how changed the "dark column", but
then we notice that the bottom part was darker because of the sulphate-reducing
bacteria. Also, appeared a little red line near the surface edges, maybe formed
by aerobic bacterial colonies. On the other hand, we could see many changes on
our "light column". On the illuminated face we could appreciate that
the colour was lighter and there were gas bubbles produced by the cellulose
fermentation, while the dark side and the bottom showed an increase in black
spots.

Why would the cellulose fermentation produce gas in the light column and not the dark one?
ReplyDeleteI can appreciate some green spots in your light column. What are these? Can they be responsible for the gas bubbles?
